Dhanteras

Dhanteras (or Dhanatrayodashi) derives its name from the Sanskrit words “Dhan” (wealth) and “Teras” (thirteenth day), falling on the thirteenth day of Kartik’s Krishna Paksha. On this day, people worship Lord Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurveda and health, believed to have emerged from the cosmic churning (Samudra Manthan) with a pot of Amrit, the nectar of life.
